Post Spyder Victor II

Here's my review of my Spyder Victor II:

Just this sunday I used it for a 6 hour scenario game, and it wasn't at all bad. However, the stock barrel is crappy and balls (although accurate at short distances) would often curve to the right or downward. This will soon be solved with a $45 Smart Parts Teardrop barrel (http://www.smartparts.com/Store/Teardrop.aspx). Also, the grip is a hard plastic that I find too large. So, I'm going to buy new grips (Dye Sticky 3) for it. Otherwise, I'd say this gun has alot going for it considering the price, and I didn't notice any major recoil. Plus, if you plan on keeping it for a long time, consider an ESP frame (around $80) down the road. The Victor has good trigger feel but it doesn't fire that fast. The ESP Frame would solve this. I figure I might buy one after Christmas.

Actually, before this PM I was majorly considering selling the Victor and getting a Tippmann 98 Custom. The problem is that I hear the 98C sucks at Speedball, and I odn't play exclusively woodsball.

What I said in a nutshell:
Pros: -Light, small, inexpensive
Cons: -You will probably want to upgrade the barrel and grips becuase they aren't that good.

Good upgrade ideas:
The Victor II isn't the most expensive gun, so don't pour loads of money into it. Start with a nice barrel, I suggest the Smart Parts Teardrop or J&J Ceramic barrel. Get more comforable grips such as Dye Stickies. A new drop forward will help keep the gun more balanced, although my friend liked the stock drop. As you play more and want to really improve your gun, an ESP Frame would be a good idea. Remember that Spyders depreciate quite quickly though, so don't put in a ton of money. If you aren't customizing, then get an Imagine because it is better stock.
