The truth:
you WOULD think that 15 and younger would have less cash but myfriends and i just barely turned 16 and we're on cockers, bkos, upped e-99 frame t-board spyders, fishies, etc etc so you never really know what your faced against. And the truth of the matter is that your likely to either be out gunned (extremely likely) or out skilled (i rather be out skilled -.-)

Basic Cost:
First of all pick out what tournament you are going to (try to find out as far ahead in time as possible), plan out first the cost of entry fee for the team (then split into 3) then decide on paint cost. Well back you want to give him at likely 2 cases of paint so theres little worry, and for yourself and your mid depending on what gun and how fast you shoot and how much likely 1-2 cases going more on 2 case. Also always have 1 extra case of paint incase of problems. So this totals between 5-7 cases of paint any left overs you can just keep to use next time. so thats 125-200 dollars worth of paint if your shooting ZAP or Rps shraps. again divide that into 3 or however you see fit.

Basic Gear:
Now that you actually have the cost down, you 3 can set that aside and use whatever cash left over for gear. First of all your going to need pods, doesnt matter if you shoot a PMI Black Maxx or a empire timmy no pods=no ammo =screwd middleof a game. Afterwards it might be time to decide on your guns, hopper, goggles and maybe tanks. Good to decent goggles is a must, cant shoot what you cant see (Jt Proflex , Protoswitch, Dye Invas) Some sort of gearbag is good too, good idea to keep everything nice and neat. Lastly for basic gear is to keep a box filled with every freaking tool for your gun. Never know when you need that last second tighting of your frame. Don't want to be move and shooting and next thing you know your holding your gun frame and wailing on it but then to notice that your holding your frame but your marker's body is on the ground lol...

Hopper:
Hopper really depends on your gun a reloader is a safe bet but if you got a speedy lil demon you need at lease an Eggy if not a halo(so Halo, eggy, or Reloader)

Positions:
Since its only a 3 man theres less back mid and front then normal, all 3 of you should be able to play all 3 positions up to a point. I mean you don't need your back to be superman diving into snakes but at lease hold up in a 1on1 snap shooting contest if it happens to come that way. Its also a good idea to have lots of plans written up, sure you might have the best plan with 2 fronts and 1 back but if your back is shot out there goes your godly plan. Make sure you guys are able to switch to different 2 man plans whenever a position player (front mid back) has been knocked out. Also like i said above practice a lot of 1on1 snaps and just overall 1on1s, 3 mans are fast and often lead to duels in a sense. (Muliple positions, muliple plans)

Markers:
Which leads into guns, now you want decent electros or at lease electro frame guns or a smooth mech gun like a mag or a cocker. The main reason is you don't want to be stuck in a situation where your picking up your back man's sweetspotting job b/c he was marked out while on a 4-5bps spyder, aim for at LEASE 10 full bps like a mech cocker if not higher. (Dragun T.e.s , O3 Mech Cocker, Vert Cocker, Mongoose, Pmi E-forces, spyder e-99 with t-board)

Air:
Tanks isnt that big of a matter yet, at this point basic gear markers and playing cost is more important than if your on co2 or hpa. Although if your teammates are getting a tes or something then anti-S the tank at lease. Also pay for all-day air, its important and don't want to skip on that. (20oz or 12oz are good for co2, 68/3000 at lease for hpa tanks, aim PMI, Nitro Duck, Centerflag, or Crossfire with Cross being the best)

After all that is set, DRILL. If your can't afford to go play at an arena like us then at lease go drill. My team and i setup mock 2on2s, 1on1s, 1on1 snap shooting only, and 1on1 move and shoot only. You can get 4 cases of paint for 100bucksfree shipping, 33 bucks, with a filled co2 tank and a backyard or some remote safe area(cough backyard cough). If theres no room to drill then setup target practices with moving targets, as in swinging bottles, snapping and shooting, and constant moving and shooting at a fixed target. You may not be able to out gun them but you can always out skill them.

Lastely if you have a chance go check out big 3on3 tournaments. We checked out a 3on3 Ama tournament, saw what they do and everything, dunno lots of experience and things to learn watching it.

if i havnt made any sense in anything just IM me, its 1:19 and im pretty tired and have no idea what im writing about at this point...
