yes..it is mainly a question of safety. If you have your gun set hot and you hit someone with a nasty temper, expect to get shot up pretty bad.
There isnt an "advantage" to having your gun set above 300fps, it will break your balls and you will lose accuracy, big time. It could possibly increase your distance but youw ill be lucky if you can even get paint outta the barrel without it breaking. If you do happen to shoot without a break there is no way you are gonna be able to hit what you are aiming at. I see it like throwing a paper airplane, you need just the right amount of force behind it for it to fly straight and far. Throw it as hard as you can and the paper just folds and it doesnt even fly. Dont throw it hard enough and it just falls to the ground.
If you want a real "advantage" for distance and accuracy your best bet is to get a perfect paint-to-barrel match or spend some money and get yourself a nice barrel or maybe even a barrel kit.
For your sake and everyone elses just follow the rules and put your marker at or below 300fps.
