Go with Smitty and the others comments on cutting the springs down a little. You might want to take them out and look for some of the same size at some hardware store first, and then cut those. That way if you go too short you will still have the original ones.
How did a CO2 get filled without a burst disk? Or was it a little 12-gram that just let loose and flew around a little?
