Yea, they do... If you "drop" something, it makes it lower than how it originally was... In this case, away from the gun... This makes the tank lower which in turn adds height.

It is all preference. I thought the same thing but I got rid of it and it is SOOO much easier to play without a drop.
But like I said... preference.
