Or is that just a cute little number they put beside it to hope it sells better? The 4G63T, which has been in the evo for some years, was in the DSM when it rolled into dealerships in 1989! I've had 3 DSMs, and did them all myself. I love the potential of the 4g63 platform. And I never had a problem with them. Granted they were all purchased for around 500, but I built the motor and trans, could launch at 5k all day and not break anything. Stress on a 4G63? Try 450hp on stock internals without breaking a sweat. I'm not sure about the STI, but I'm sure skurge would know. When I was running the 14b(STOCK TURBO), I could embarass more than half of the guys on here, period. When I ran the .63 Trim T04B, good luck even keeping up, even from a roll, and you would have to do that so I wouldn't put around 7 lengths on you easily if we went from a dig. Yea, only 450hp may not be impressive on a four banger, but you're forgetting toyota's trump card-2JZ-GTE. How about over 1000whp easilly on stock internals? When its built, you get up into the 1500whp range. Thats no rods, pistons, or crank. And there are plenty of supras out there putting out that number on stock internals. And guess what? OMG, a *** car thats putting out real power and still reliable. Sorry, but when someone sees a camaro, stang, trans am, or any other V8 roll up to the local track, they expect it to be fast, and the expect it to smoke the little dsm next to it. I laugh'd my a** off when that little talon ripped this T/A a new one out of the whole and make him look silly. T/A=13.2; Talon=11.17. The thing was nobody expected the import to beat the almighty LS1, but he was the talk of the track after he did. Yea, I know, there are countless domestics out there that do 10s and under, but with more displacement, that's to be expected, but something, say an RB26 powered S13 that does that too is cool. Anyways, back to topic, I've owned a Honda, and a Toyota. They both had over 200k before I got rid of them. And they both ran like champs. And yes, I did beat on them. The toyota was my off-road toy. Had to give 'er hell just to get though deep holes, but she didn't break a sweat trying to. The prelude got to a point where it wouldn't die. I know the kid that has it right now, and he runs the piss outta it. Still runs like a top after him driving it, too. Lets go out and buy a 2006 Toyota Camary and a 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, keep all records of service and maitenence, and meet back up in 10 years to see whose does better. I'm throwing my money on the Toyota, but who knows until after those 10 years.

Anyways, yea, for crazy power, a V8 is absolutely the way to go. Can't beat the endless gobs of torque and power that it can produce, especially when mated to a RWD platform with the right trans that will allow it to hook up very well. If you want to go the underdog route, then tune an import and at least be able to beat a V8, not just loose by a few lengths. Granted, I drove my DSM everyday without problems and could still rip a lot of cars on the street, but I can't run with those cars that are doing 10s at the track. Granted, if I did an LS1 swap(its been done before in a DSM), that would be a different story. Now, all my attention is focused on my 1954 Ford F100 pickup that will be strickly for cruising and a track truck. Its time to get her on the road, and little projects are just slowing me down too much. Anyways, its all user preferance. Yea, some people have better experiences with domestics than others have had, while some people swear by their imports.

BTW, no matter what you drive, there's always gonna be someone out there that will hand you your a**, whether its a domestic or an import.

I like your attitude. I approve.
