Yet another noob in need of help

Ok, I'm pretty new. Friend got me into this and I bought a cheap marker just to play, but now I'm getting into it and want to keep up. Like many, I dont have a lot to spend, or atleast not all at once. Little here, little there. I need some suggestions. I have a spyder xtra. Started with it and have loved it for awhile, extremly reliable, broke mayb 3 balls out of 5 cases. Then someone sold me a cheap etrigger for like $50. Same day I bought a Java HP bottle. So a slapped the two on to try it out and I'm chopping mad balls and the thing is acting up. By this I mean that it acting as though the bolt is not catching on the release and it double/triple firing sometimes, and this almost always causes a chop or two. I'm thinking it is because of the cheap trigger, but I dont have a regulator on the marker yet (its ordered). I'm to the point not I just want to throw the thing down and buy a new marker. I'm here looking for advice from the season pros. As with any hobby, your bound to make stupid mistakes when your noob, so Im wanting to avoid this. Should I start from scratch and buy a new marker, or buy some parts for the xtra. I'm looking at spending about $100 immediatly and more down the road.
