I wanted a new gun probably about a month or so after I got my tes(spyder clone). I saw the guys at the field with their dm4's and timmys and started to find all the things that were bad about my gun. After about a year and a half I ordered my matrix and have played with it for the last year and a half or so. I will occasionally look at a new gun but i am happy with my matrix and cannot justify dropping another 500 into paintball for the 20 or so times a year that i go. [/lifestory]
I really would not suggest getting a 500 dollar gun right off the bat, it may seem more cost effective but there are a couple major drawbacks. The first is that you may stop liking paintball and a gun that costs 500 will lose value very quickly as most all guns do. The second is that you may not be ready to get a fancy gun and run the possibillity of breaking it.
The last thing is that you mentionet getting a large tank. For tanks bigger is not better, get a 68ci or 45ci 4500psi tank. The reason behind this is that larger tanks such as a 90ci tank ar every long and heavy making the setup uncomfortable.
