I don't see how the X-7 is any better.
Tippmann offers the same upgrades for most all their guns, and he way they perform on the individual guns doesn't differ enough to warrant the several hundred dollar split from the 98

You can see my marker in my sig, and I've played with an A-5 on Nitro, RT and the cyclone, spitting from a 16" Stiffi, and had no trouble at all. I've also ousted several all-electric Ions, running 15-23 bps. That's for woodsball.

As for speedball, I've beaten numerous 'tried and true' speedball guns, and my 2 teammates run an 98's, one with a stock and 14" off-brand, and one straight stock.

I think the statistical evidence and player stories you see everywhere show just how good Tippmanns really are.
