yes you should stay away from the Ion but not the Ion XE, there is a HUGE difference and if he is judging the XE on what he knows of the ion do not pay attention to another piece of advice he gives you. i dont care if he is Bob Long or Ben Tippmann, if he has not kept up with the times and gear in paintball how can he possibly give you advise on what to get? a DM3 is a horrid choice, sure you can get them for like $50 now but as soon as anything breaks you are up a creek, very very few places sell parts for the dm4 still. i dont remember the last time i saw anything being sold for the 3, in the mid or upper level markers gennerally its not the best idea unless you really know what your doing to buy anything over about 3 years old, parts are just too hard to find and he is telling you to get a marker that 6 years old, not only that but one that has a production run of 1 year, i mean its one thing to buy a old impulse that had a run of a decade or so but not one that was only produced for 12 months.
stick with the XE, you will be happy with it, i guaruntee it
