yes you can use them but they wont be endorsed by the DOT for use in such and could be dangerous to do so over time, metal tanks at high pressures going through pressure changes all the time weakens the metal, after a while of being stressed continuously it may fail, they had a few cases of this a while back with some 3k metal tanks that were designed for use in aircraft so the walls around the threads were thinner, resulting in a much shorter life and tanks failing hydro, yes hydro should catch tanks that are bad but iv been to a few fields that do not check hydro dates when filling, its not that far out there to think that someone could be going to one of these fields all the time and never have the date checked for years

and its kinda pointless for anyone to buy a 5k or 6k tank since nobody can fill it
