Painting with the brownells aluma-hyde2 is very easy. The paint is a self primeing epoxy based paint that comes in a spray can. I have used this paint on real guns for years with no failures. Just prep by sanding and degreaseing with denatured alchohol and spray on marker. Start with base layer of the light color first. Next spray lines of the darkest color (black) and then follow up with filling in around the dark color with O.D.green. That gives the colors a good fade with no sharp lines. The the sharp lines and cool patterns of a lot of the paint jobs look really nice to the eyes, but does not do much for the camo effect of helping to hide the object. I really like the creative camo jobs that I have seen done and you can tell that a lot of time and effort was put into them, which I can appreciate, but they will still stick out like a sore thumb in the woods. The paint job on this marker was done in 1 hr. includeing dissassembly and metal prep. The paint is dry to handle after a few hours of Texas heat, but the full hard cure is complete after about a week.
