E-Mailed SP With A Dilema...

Sent this email to SP tech support yesterday...

- Smart Parts Impulse Cricket II board (non-Vision): The latest version of the non-Vision Cricket board. Stock on all Impulses as of sometime in late 2001. Boards without the white sticker on the microprocessor will only shoot 13.7-bps, however board with the sticker will shoot 20-bps. These faster boards were released in March 2003.

^^Taken from a site that has info on the Impulse.

I purchased my Standard Non-Vision Impulse in January of this year. The serial number is IMP#030115, and my Blue Light Cricket Board has the little white sticker on the small chip on it. But sometimes, when I'm walking the trigger, I can hear a slight high-pitched chirp coming from the board. This chirp indicates that I am pulling the trigger faster than the board's cap, right? And I can pull about 14bps.

So, if that information above is true, and my board has the white sticker, so it should be capped at 20bps., right? Then why am I getting the chirp at about 13.7bps.?

Basically, I am trying to get all of the correct information on the
Impulse's board's. This has been boggling my mind, and many other Impulse owner's out there for awhile now. Just trying to get the facts, and not the fiction.

Any clarification on the subject will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Got this email back from SP a couple minutes ago...

Josh,

The impulse has 2 default fire rates. 13.7 shots non vision and 20 in vision mode. If you have a non vision impulse you board is only capable of 13.7. If you have a vision impulse you board is "dual mode" for lack of a better term. When the board chirps at you it means 2 things, either you are out shooting the board or your battery is low. The information on the website you found is slightly misleading. I hope I have cleared this up for you. Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.

I guess that cleared up the basic question I had. But I was looking for something a little more in depth concerning all of this Non-Vision 20bps. crap, lol.

This is the final answer, no more talk of board cap!
