Check under the right side panel and see if your ball detent has worn out (its a little nub that sticks into the barrel chamber and keeps the ball from rolling out of the barrel.) Put a new one in if you have one (you should have extras if you bought the gun new.) Also, when you put a new one in, cut out a piece of thick paper (manilla folder works great) just small enough to fit behind the detent and stick it back there and put the panel back on. This will cause the detent to stick out a little more and hopefully prevent double feeding.
Also, adjust the plug on the powerfeed so that no balls will feed. Then slowly rotate it counterclockwise until a ball feeds in. This will ensure that the hole the balls are feeding into isnt too big, causing a double feed.
Oh and you said your gun wasnt recocking...take out all the internals and see if any o-rings are busted. If they are all ok, oil them up, and put the gun back together...put a few drops of oil in your asa, screw in your tank and dryfire 10 times. This will evenly distribute oil thru the gun. If this doesnt work, take the gun to a shop and have them replace all the o-rings. That should do it.
I had a rebel 02, and this is what I did to prevent your problem...hope it helps.
