What to buy
Figured I could elaborate more on what to buy.. So here goes.
Marker
The most important part of your outfit is what your shooting. You need something accurate. Something that will work for you, and can get YOU out of whatever messes you get yourself into. Get something comfortable to you. I'm fading more over to the speedball side of paintball, but if I were to call myself a 'sniper' (which I reccomend you never do as you'll get laughed at), I'd use a pump marker. For my money (not much) I'd get a stock class phantom. If I had more money, I'd get a Sniper II, a an autococker without the auto. However, many people dont like semi.. Nor do they ike the feel of those guns. I do. Its all up to you. Obviously your not going to compete that well in the woods if you have a Brass eagle (since most of their lower-end models are very prone to leaks and breaking down in the middle of games is bad). However I have seen some rainmakers that could probably whip my fish out of the water. I reccomend a CCM stock class Phantom.
Tank
The best tank is one thats small, holds a lot of air, is light, and strong. But sometimes you can't have all of that. If your going nitro, get a carbon wrapped 68ci 4500psi tank. Can't go wrong there. If your low on cash you can get a 45/3000, but be ready to get it filled after every game. I hate CO2.. I wouldn't go back if it meant giving up my right arm. AS I've stated in the first post, its very unstable. I reccomend a Crossfire 68 cubic inch 4500 PSI carbon fiber wrapped tank.
Gear
Your going to need some gear... This stuff is very important and very necessary for paintball. You need a mask first of all. The best you can buy. Dont be cheap here. A good mask is going to cost you $60+ and your going to enjoy it. Take it from an NVader wearer... Those things are like boxes with a lens fitted onto them. Proflex masks are nice and affordable. Invisions are also nice but dont have as much periphial view. Get soemthign with at least 180 degrees view.
You'll need a harness too. It sucks running out of paint. If you play stock class like I reccomend, you can get 10 round tubes and I've seen everythign from a vest to wrist wrap that holds those suckers. You'll also want to bring at least 5 CO2 cartridges with you. Find out about how many shots you can get out of a 12 gram, and bring enough cartridges for how much paint you have, AND bring an extra one just in case. Sometimes you might need to dry fire too.
If you want to be a one-shot-one kill kind of uber 1337 person, dont worry abotu a hopper. But if your going for a gun that costs more then $300, then get an electronic hopper. A Reloader B is argualy one of the best, but for that money an empire reloader will do the trick for about 45 bucks.
Buy the best camouflage for your area. MARPAT works wonders for where I live. It matches the terrain very well.
You might want a better barrel. The best otu there would be a kit like the Freak or Pipe, but if your pressured fr money, a JnJ ceramic is a very nice barrel and I noticed a HUGE increase in my game when I got one. Of course I had been using a 9 inch stock one.
A squeegie is a must. You can bring one on the field with you. Swabs are best for that though. They even make holsters to hold them.
A Barrel condom is way better then a plug becuase plugs will shoot out and hirt even more then a paintball. Condoms prevent ANYTHING from leaving the barrel.
