The Electromech mag.

So I got bored this weekends, and I had the idea of maybe putting a light inside my trigger frame so it would glow red. I have ir3 grips on the chimera (I'm missing one screw though.. gotta replace it).

I used a microswitch much like if I were to hook it up to a revvy, but its all contained in the grip, adn theres no headphone adapter involved.

For wire I got lazy and found an old usb cable for a digital camera thats no logner made and no longer in my posession... I cut it up, and got the wires out.

I also had to "borrow" a 9v battery power hookup from my alarm clock. I cut it real short so I figure I'll replace it later. I tried to take my brothers, but he flipped on me, and I figured that I'm not that lazy when the power goes out that I can't just reset the time.

For the fake board I used a USB headset from a SOCOM 1 mic. I have like 5 or 6 of the boards laying around, all of wihch still work, they just dont have headsets hooked up to them. When they break on people, they juts throw them out. Little do they know the culprit is just a loose wire. They did a horrible soldering job.

I had to dremel the board a little bit so it would fit perfectly into the frame. I duct taped it to the inside of the grip, so you can see it through the clear window.

On the other side, I hooked up the microswitch, LED, and battery, and taped a 10mm LED to the back of the battery, and taped the battery down to the grip. This is so I didnt need to make an additional device to hold the led in place, and I don't have to do anythign special to hold the battery. It all works out well.

The drawback of this mod is that the 5 gram microswitch adds 5 grams to my trigger pull, which isnt very much, but I'm a performance freak, and I flip over stuff like gun weight, trigger pull weight and stuff like that.

A nice thing that it does is add tension to the trigger. So I can practice walking the trigger even if I don't have air! And it makes a click noise.

I think this all turned out pretty cool, and I'm not sure if anyone has ever done something like this.

I am trying to fool people into thinking its electric. The board, the flashy light, the 5 gram trigger pull without air... I bet I could have some fun at AONE7.

I made a video (which will be uploaded and hosted at jayloo), and took several pictures.

Toom me about 4 hours of improvising and macgyvering to finally get everythign right and snug.

EDIT: The reason why there is no mainbody on my mag is because I sold mine and am awaiting my exile body to come in.

looks nice. Chimeras are very light. Does the 9V add some weight on it? Is it noticeable?

Yeah it adds a little. Like I said, I'm a performance freak, but its a friggin paintball gun. We all say how cockers are supereor ebcuase they have less recoil.. Its a paintball gun. Its not that bad.

Yeah it makes it a little heavier, but again, its a batery, microswitch, and LED.. Not too bad

i think it would be cool if u rigged it up so the leds light up everytime the switch is hit (unless u've done that already, wasn't to clear) and have a led on BOTH sides.

U could always say u morlocked ur mag.

I was thinking about if it added or not.. I figured it did.. But I just started to confuse myself so I stopped thinking about it... lol

I'm finishing the finishing touches on the video. Just need to fix the audio and upload.

I might try google's new video hosting thing.

it shouldnt because your already exerting more force than that. you already have a heavier pull, so it shouldnt take more weight to pull it.......

however i am capable of being wrong so.....

No, you make perfect sense.

I like how it takes away the lag on the sear pin. I love being able to practise shootign when I dont have air.

Took me about 4 hours becuase I was doing a few other things at the same time (upload pics, photoshop somethign, watch tv, etc).

I had to go to radio shack to get the LED and microswitch too. These LEDs are kickass, I'm going to have to buy more and use them for stuff.

go with a halo. i gota clear one and just finished painting it black with the plastic paint. it looked good gloss black, but then i sanded it til it got that dust/ruddish look to it. all i left clear was the lid and battery cover. soon i will put the AO logo, and my team name on the side, so you can see it clear on the black part.
