w00t for free mags!

One of my friends got a free automag today (classic). Has a progressive barrel. The guy that owned it first (one of my friends) didn't know anything about paintball when he purchased it. So he bought the mag, an ANS regulator, progressive barrel, cp drop forward, and a quantum.

When he got the mag, he though it was broken because he heard something rattling on the inside. I didn't know anything at mags at the time, so i though it was also broken.

He never took it apart or anything...never aired it up and shot. he meant to return it but never did...but kept the barrel on....

...so it just sat there for a year.

Drew (my friend that got the mag for free) was talking to Jake (original owner, in arizona for college) on the phone and Drew asked him if he could use his mag sometime. Jake said yes so we went over to Jakes house to get the gun (Drew thinking it's broken...that mainly why i went along...so i could see if there was anything wrong with it)....we found all the parts other than the ANS regulator...i brought the mag back to my house so i could take a look at it and see if I could get it working. Finally did after about half an hour...mainly just because I was looking for screws to scew in the bottomline and some extra macroline and fittings.

After I got it to work, went over to Drews house to show him (this was at 9:30 at night)...It was suprisingly accurate, but had a lot of kick and the trigger pull was horrible.

Of course...i have a picture...

By the way...he wants to sell this (go figure)...so how much do you think he can get for it? I put the stock ION ASA on it.

It doesnt need a regulator, it already as one of the best regs on the market (for the time at least)

It didnt have much kick and the trigger pull wasnt that hard for the time. 3 pounds wasnt much in the early to mid 90's.

Remember, not all mags are like that.

EDIT: And what he heard rattling inside when he shook it back adn forth was the sear. The sear has about 1 centimeter of free slack, give or take, and since there are no springs involved in teh trigger mechanism (its all done by air pressure), he would hear somethign rattling when its not gassed up.

Expect to sell it for no MORE then 200 (with the barrel and everything in the pic).

Alpha: I know about the sear and reg now...but i didn't when Jake bought it.

I asked drew if I could trade him something for it and he said no...even turned down a $400 subwoofer (home audio)...o well...at least I got it working for him so he can sell it and doesn't have to use my fenix anymore. Drew doesn't even like the mag which pisses me off. With a couple ups it could be awesome.

yeah just slap on a ULE body, chimera frame, x-valve, ULE rail, and a cocker barrel and it would rock.

Classic mags will never be on par with mid-end guns again unless you put x-valve it.

exactly. That was my point. For it to rock you need to put at least $300 dollars on used gear (used x-valve and intelli/chimera/whatever).
