Fill Stations

A few friends and I are playing paintball so much that we are wondering if it would be cheaper to just install a N2 fill station in one of our own backyards. I've looked around on sites and found the part that go on the end of the hoses but where do i connect that to. In other words whats the tank that holds the air and where do u buy them and how much do they cost and where do you refill them? This could probably be answered best by someone who works at a paintball store or field.

How much would the cost of the following be?
Main N2 Tank
Fill Station control thing :\ (best i can do)

I read and found that scuba tanks are used. Althought i dont think the giant tanks inside paintball store are scuba tanks. Any ideas?

my hose cost me about $100 and the lease on the K tank is $200. plus $57 to fill it.
go to a welding supply shop they can tell you what you need.

Jaggy, is that regualated? A hose for $100 is cheap if it has the reg on it.

We have looked into it here locally in Texas. For the hose with the 4500psi regulators on the end, it costs about $400 new.
For the tank, I found one online for a 4500psi at around $400-500 brand new. But then you have to get it shipped to your house by frieght service.

It is a costly investment. But if your friends and you are rich enough, and play often enough, it might be worthwhile to do that. You might want to talk to a welding place locally to you like Jaggy13 said, they might have a better idea as to what you need.

ok, here is a little more of a breakdown since my other post was a little short.
My hose is not regulated.
First off you need to decide on the gas you are going to use, Nitrogen or HPA. Nitrogen uses an inert nipple 5600 i believe. The nitrogen K tank (280 CF/4500 psi) has two output nozzles. one is regulated to 1000 psi,(3600 nipple) the other is not regulated (5600 nipple) I started with Nitrogen but then realized that I could use scuba shops to fill my tank so I swithced to HPA. (non medical grade). You really are not supposed to be able to buy a 4500 psi tank of that size because of liability. I had to lease my tank for 10 years. (200 investment free first fill) that ensures that the tank will go in for hydro testing at some point. When I switched to HPA I had to change the nipple from the inert 5600 to an HPA fitting (not sure of the #.) My hose starts at the nipple then goes to a "T" where I have a ball valve on one end, hose and nipple plumbed in. I have an 18" perferated cover hose with a quick connector at the end.(stainless for 4500 psi) You can build a cheaper hose by either using 3000 psi fittings or by not using any hose at all( I would not reccomend it though). put the quick connect right on the T. I use a longer hose so that I can leave the fill station in the back of my truck and still fill tanks in a comfortable mannor. I would suggest that you consult a welding supply shop for a couple of reasons. This is very high pressure and has the potential to be very deadly. Make sure that you have a certified airsmith build your hose. (mine was built for me at a pnuematic shop) you can easily supply "all day air" to about 10-15 people at about $5 each, you can see that it will take several outings for the equipment to pay for its self. As a rec player I didn't have much call for that kind of air supply. but as a team captain, I fill my bottle every week. Please be carefull when building and using this equipment. It would also be a good investment to get a few extra burst discs of each kind to have available for repairs. Most people look to the person that is holding the tank when the disc goes to pass blame. weather its your fault or not, its just good PR to have the tools to fix the problem. If you have any more questions about this, post in the air section, this is the B/S/T and really is not appropriate, or just PM me.

scuba tank will run you around 100 bucks or so plus the fill station which is about 30-40. Thats all you need to fill up a 3000 psi nitro tank
