Question about tank regs

With an HPA tank what is the difference between a 4500 and 3000 psi reg? I mean I know the difference between HP LP but what about these regs?

What it means is that 4,500psi. or 3,000psi. is the maximum amount of air pressure the tank is designed to hold. The regulator on the other hand, I'm not sure, but I would guess that they are a lot stronger as the psi. raises so they are more expensive or something.

Lol, doubtful it's just the burst disk that makes it more expensive. Look at the price difference from a 3000 tank to a 4500 tank.

It could just be the burst disk, and the tank is just more expensive or something, I don't know for sure.

Oh, well I guess it could just be the burst disk, or like I said before about strength or something.

I'm only asking because I can get a 45/4500 CF tank for 75 bux (new) but it has no reg, So i was wondering If my reg on 72/3000 would work.

NO IT WILL NOT.
Usually, 3000psi regs have DIFFERENT THREADS then 4500psi regs.

Yikes

A 4500psi tank needs a 4500psi reg. Period. MOST HPA explosions have been from putting the wrong regulator on tanks.

Sometimes.

Some companies use the same housings for the 3000 and 4500 regs. They just respring and rethread for different tanks.

But most 3000psi regs were only tested for 3000psi pressure. There exists a chance that the reg could explode after switching the burst-disc to 4500psi.

The best solution is just get a 4500psi reg. BUT YOU COULD ALSO CALL the manafacturer and just ask them. They might be able to respring/rethread the reg cheaply... or even free for your 4500 tank
