a macroline is basically a plasticlike tube that brings air from the ASA to the regulator and up to the gun. It is uaually found on higher end guns like imps, timmys, dm's, etc.
On your tippmann you probably have a "steel braided hose"...macrolines are better because they are SOOO easy to get out, they are super thick and durable, i think they can handle a lot of different types of pressures better, but im not sure...they also come in pretty colors...

Actually they're thin and the cheap kind some people sell aren't even rated to handle the pressure they are exposed to in paintball.
But yea, the main advantage is that it is less than a few dollars per foot, can be cut and bent to almost any length or shape, and the colors. Also, unless you have to remove the actual fitting, removing it is just a matter of pusing in the lock collar and pulling the line out. No tools needed.

The short answer is: Its weaker, and cheaper. Rather dangerous on some guns.
But its nice that you can cut to length, and looks slightly cleaner then hydraulic hose (the stuff on most guns).
Its a downgrade. Performance sacrificed for looks. Like Paris Hilton

it can blow, come out of the fit, crack, break when sliding... but they are cheap to replace so...

What he said.
The bottom line is most Macroline is rated for about 300psi.
Most GUNS run at 800psi.
The macroline ITSELF is usually fine, but the fittings tend to blow violently sending chucks of metal into your skin.
People like them because they are "different" and have a clean look. THAT IS ALL.
Standard black hydraulic, or stainless is rated for 3,000 psi. Thats TEN times as strong.
But, if you REALLY was some bling, invest in some stainless hardline.

Some1 use macro line on a wal-mart special.
My macro line did ok with my cocker, it just leaked sometimes cause the bend was to extreme.
