Do you have to "break in" a new hpa tank?
Just got new crossfire 68/45, and filled it today to about 4100psi. i shot about 100 shots and it dropped to 3000psi. that seemed like a rather quick drop. theres no leaking sound anywhere. does the tank run out that fast.

Check your pressure.

how long did it take u to shoot these 100 shots....alot of the time when you fill a tank...the air will cool down within a few minutes and drop the pressure significantly

well does the pressure decrease really fast and then gradually slow down? that doesnt seem very right. are crossfire tanks pretty consistent?

i waited a good 5 hours after filling to shoot. i did notice the pressure drop about 100psi after it was filled. but those hundred shots dropped the pressure a LOT. i really dont think its leaking at all b/c its been sitting at 3000psi for over a day now.

hrm
....well it could just be normal because your gun isnt verry air effeciemt...and i presume you were dry firing so that uses more air....I'd just figure you had a little less air than you thought and you shot a little more than 100 shots..

Yes. Do dry it off afterwards.
The 100psi drop after it was filled is probably just the air cooling off inside.
Once you're assured it isn't leaking, I'd count how many shots you get total from one fill and compare that to what is expected for a tank of that size and pressure. Expect to be on the low end of the range though.

since you have a rodeo i am assuming it will not be amazingly efficient so that may be just how fast your tank will drop. but i wouldn't count on factory gauges being too correct. i wouldn't worry too much because i am pretty sure mine did that the first few times i used it, especially the 1st. it was filled to about 3500 and i got maby 700 shots or so off. ever since then it has been good,i have gotten over 900 each time since

spyders should be okay w/ efficancy. On a 68/45 i think 1000rnds is not asking to much.

That's also a point. Secondary regs have a good break in period for the seals to wear in and seat better. I imagine a tank reg should have a similiar period. Still though, I'd go with no more than the 1000 shots bobide said. You could play with springs and velocity or a second reg if you wanted, but it might not be worth it. Air is cheap.
