White flaky stuff
I just went shooting today, with my tippmann 98. After shooting for around 15 minutes, white flaky stuff began to come out of the gun. It also happens when I go shooting with my Xtra. Can someone tell me what it is and how to prevent it? If this is the wrong section, someone please move it...

that is the co2... co2 is very cold and when you shoot fast or for a long time it happens.. it is like snow... which also means liquid co2 is going into your gun which can do damage... get a expancion chamber for you tippman and a better one for your spyder...

in low end markers like spyders and tippmanns the liquid co2 is not a problem at all and will not hurt anything... it's mostly on higher end markers with eyes and such that you have to worry about it with... if you can try and get a better regulator instead of an expansion chamber that way it'll make your upgrade (if ever) to HPA a little easier as you wont have to buy a new reg...

I would highly recommend not getting an expansion chamber. Just get your tank anti-siphoned and get a reg somewhere down the road.

It's completely harmless for your tippy and spyder, but as your co2 becomes cold it will cause your velocity to drop (shootdown). This usually happens if you are shooting fast for an extended period of time, the worst it could do is blow an o-ring in your reg/volumizer/low pressure chamber, and cause it to start leaking rapidly during a game. This will usually cause large amounts of "smoke", which is actually just cold c02 to start leaking rapidly from wherever the o-ring blew. If that happens just unscrew your tank and then replace the 0-ring.

it can cause damage, o-rings and liquid co2 dont get along... and also regs and hpa wont do you any good, basically useless,, unless you get a palmer...so dont get a reg unless you want to use hpa..if you want to keep co2 then get you a expansion chamber like I said.. or like the other guys said a antisyphon...

Its just dry ice, means liquid CO2 is getting into your gun. Get an expansion chamber, or anti-siphon kit.
