Drop forward/air problem

I just got a drop forward and i was wondering what the knob at the end actually does, it lets more air in and out, but how much should i turn it when i play? I am confused, heres a picture i found of the same drop forward i have. http://img192.echo.cx/img192/6868/ion0011tn.jpg

Yeah I have this drop forward I dont see how it helps any though when it is scewed out you can screw your tank in and It will do nothing. Then once you turn the knob all the way in you have AIR!

Ok, when you screw your tank in be sure that the knob is unscrewed or your gonna jam the nipple or w/e. Once you have it screwed in it should be ready for the knob to be screwed in.

Yea this makes taking your tank on and off your gun easier. When you are ready to put it on, loosen the knob on your on off and put your tank on. Then screw in the knob on the on off untill you hear the pressure release into the gun. Then when you are done for the day, loosen the knob on your on off, shoot the extra air out of your gun, and take off your tank.
