co2 hydro dates?

i just bought a 20 oz co2 tank online (not allowed to post site, PM me if you want the site i bought it from). the brand seems to be Catalina Cylinders.

i can't find a hydro date on the thing anywhere. shouldn't all co2 tanks have one?

in the corner of the label in small print it says "Rev 10/02". is that a date of any significance?

if pics of the label would do any good i may be able to supply them.

if it is a chromolly tank, it will never need hydro. Rev=Revision.

i don't think it's a chromolly. it doesn't say anything about chromolly anywhere on it. don't all the chromolly tanks have a rounded bottom instead of a flat one? it just looks like any old 20oz co2.

how can i tell if it's chromolly?

it's alum. it says on the bottle "high pressure aluminum alloy cylinder"

and shouldn't all alum co2 tanks have a hydro date on them?

it would probably be easier and mabye even cheaper to just buy a new tank when the hydro date approaches.....u can find 20 oz for $15 easy...

if u just bought it then the hydro won't be for about 10 years.....CO2 tanks don't need it as often as HPA

If its over 2" in thickness it needs to be rehydrod. I think 20oz generally are. But, it's useless to send it out when you can just buy a new tank for about the same price

i looked at the bottom and the top where it's rounded off and there are a bunch of numbers/letters stamped in there. nothing that looks like a hydro date or any date at all. a hydro date wouldn't be stamped right into the metal, correct?

it's a brand new tank so i'm not worried about the thing blowing up in my face as soon as i get it filled. i'm just a bit confused.

thanks for all the help

One of the kids in the club here has two older looking tanks that I couldn't find any sort of date on. I'll have to look again next time I see him.
