leaking....

i just bought a macdev 45 tank (my first hpa tank), and i just filled it. i have a question, its leaking, and its been leaking for like 20 minutes. the gauge originally read like 4000, but now its down to 3000. this a problem, i have no idea since i have no experience with these things.

haha i tightened the valve, that did it. but im surprised the guy at my field didn't think the leaking was a problem.

Is it coming from the tank reg or the fill nipple?

the valve. its alright, i just tightened it with a wrench and the leaking stopped, but i lost over 1000 psi altogether. its funny the guy at the field who filled it wasn't worried about the leak, which is why i asked. i could go back and ask for another fill, but by the time i drive down, its just not worth it. thanks for the help.

It's not always the best to fool with the valve while it is holding back thousands of pounds of pressure. But as long as its fixed I guess.

Remember that as the tank is filled it gets hot, and when it cools it will be a few hundred PSI lower than when it was hot. Its just the temperature effecting the pressure and is normal.

yeah good point. thats what i was thnking, and its why i just waited it out at first. but it lost 1500 psi, not just a few hundred, so i dunno. hopefully itll be alright, ill take it into the shop tomorrow. thanks.

wow, overnight, i lost another 1000 psi. this is weird.

anyways, the tech at the shop just tightened things up a bit and said it was fine. he said it was normal for new tanks like that to leak a little at first; they just need time to settle in a bit.
