Do I need a Regulator?

Alright so I recently got a Tippman A-5 for Christmas. Haven't used it once yet because I have been waiting to get a N2 tank, a barrel, and an eGrip w/ WAS board. Now that I have already ordered them an have them on the way I was wondering a few things for the regulator.

First off, what EXACTLY does a regulator do? (all I know is it has something to do with the air pressure)

Secondly, with an A-5 w/ eGrip ... and a 68/4500 is it needed?

Thirdy, if needed what are some popular types or brands?

1)you do not need a regulator.

2)a regulator brings the air pressure down what whet the regulator on your tanks bring it down to. however, an A-5 operates ont eh pressure your tank puts out, so there's no need for a second one.

3)you can run whatever sort of tank you like on an A-5. CO@ tank actualyl hold more shots per capita.

Pretty much. A regulator does what it sounds like, it regulates. Most air tanks and all CO2 tanks output about 800psi, give or take a bit. Your A5 operates on a blow back mechanism, which can handle high pressures, in fact it needs a high input pressure; I think around 600psi is the lowest they can operate properly, at least without modification/upgrades.

Well no, the tank must either be a CO2 tank or a HP compressed air tank. There are LP compressed air tanks that are meant primarily for high end markers, these output about 400ish psi. An A5 will not work at that low pressure as mentioned above.

Is it worth it to invest in a regulator?
