Important big tank question!

Ok so the question has to do with a CO2 tank. I use CO2 because I just got into the sport and I mostly play at my own woods, can't find a place that fills HPA (lucky to find a place that fills CO2). Now I have read and done research on tanks/fill stations and even a little on bulk tanks and thought maybe it was a good idea to buy a big tank (20-100 lb) but I put the idea off because of the place I found near my property. Well I just found out that I can get a 80-100 lb tank for free. (dad knows someone....) BUT! the tank was used for helium and I really need to know whether or not you can fill a tank that was used for helium with CO2. Of course it would be emptied out and re hydro tested (if thats even done with big tanks). If it can be done I will def. go back and research the hell out of what fill station to get how to store it/how to fill it and all the safety precautions to take.

I am not sure if the tank has a anti siphon tube in it but i think it wouldn't because it was used with helium. Is it possible to have someone install one into this tank?

Any help would be great but I would like to hear from people who know tanks or even better people who fill tanks.

Thanks

I would try and post this on some other forums because this could be really dangerous, so use your common sense before doing anything like this. (I don't want to sound like your mom but an air tank exploding and killing somebody could scare some people away from paintball)

talk with the store or company doing the hydrotesting. You might be able to do it but I am unsure and if things go bad it could be very dangerous.

It *should* be fine. But since you are getting it for free, just ask the people who will be filling it for you. I would not suggest putting syphon tube in it. When you do that, it ends up putting air in the little tanks, NOT CO2. So you get very few shots per tank.

I have a 50lb tank. It it great, we used to have 30 people play for two days. So that is over 60 tanks.

The way I do it, we have a deal with Airgas and we lease a tank every year. It costs us $60 for the tank adn $15 to refill it. So we can get syphoned or non syphoned. When we had a syphoned tank, it only filled about 20 tanks properly. So I wouldn't suggest getting one put in a tank.
