New tank/N2 question

Well right now I play with a tippmann A-5 and works great and I have 2 20oz co2 tanks. I usually use like 1.5 of them for 2000 balls because i have the expansion chamber on my gun. But soon I am hopefully moving up to a Invert mini/Proto matrix Rail and want to get into N2 hopefully.
I dont want to have to spend a fortune but I want to be able to fire about 2000 rounds out of one of these things or about 2500 out of two because thats what I usually shoot in a woodsball game. But i really dont know anything about the tanks, like 48ci 3000 psi and 68ci 3000psi means nothing to me. If someone could explain how this works and maybe also recommend a tank for me that would be great.

first thing you should know: most hpa/n2/air tanks will not get as many shots as a co2 tank, however it is more efficient and not a liquid, so you wouldn't need your xchamber anymore.

a brief explanation of the numbers: ci is a measurment of volume that means cubic inches, meaning that a 68ci tank will hold 68 cubic inches of air. the bigger the number, the bigger the tank and the more it can hold. the second number is a measurement of pressure. psi= pounds per square inch, basically the higher the psi,the more air you can squeeze into each inch.

so, for a 68/3k tank, it is rated to hold 68 cubic inches of air at 3000 psi. the 3k tanks are usually steel tank meaning they're heavier...but once you get into the 45k tanks they are carbon fiber wrapped for more strength meaning they can withstand higher pressures.

you probably wont be able to get 2000 shots off of a single tank, but 2500 out of 2 tanks doesn't seem too bad. personally i have an 88/5k tank and can get about 1400 shots from it if i can find someplace that will fill up to 4.5k psi. the best thing about hpa tanks is that if a field has the ability to fill them, all day air is usually free with entrance fees, so you can get it filled as much as you need.

in order not to spend a fortune, you'll need to look into used steel tanks on pbnation or ebay, usually they're less than $100. however, they're much heavier, a feature not very desireable in the sport. i suggest you spend the extra dough on getting a carbon fiber tank (got a good deal on mine at my local shop 88/5k evil scion tank for $120 but with only a year left on the hydro.)

which leads me to my next point: if buying used watch for the hydro date, tanks have to be tested on a regular basis for safety reasons...steel tanks have 3 years until hydro whereas the carbon fibur tanks are 5 years...if you go used, make sure if its close to its hydro date it will pass (no major damage that could affect its integrity), that is if you're willing to part with at least another $30 to send it out for hydrotesting

sorry for the long rant, hope this helps...any questions pm me
