Ok. I recently purchased a Smart Parts Max Flo 68/45 CF tank. It has (I think) a "dovetail" mount. It is trapezoidal where I'm pretty sure it goes to the on the marker. My question is, can I mount the tank without buying a rail or drop? I've seen mounts, but they don't look like my tank mount. It needs to fit an Ion, as well. Any help is appreciated.

you're going to need a new tank soon anyways. that old tank either is going to need rehydro with a max of 5 years left, or has less than 3 years left anyways on its usable life

ya they have not made max flows in a while so if the tank is as old as the mount system its probably coming up on the grave.

however what you are looking as is a mount system that honestly was never all that popular, IF by chance that is a standard dovetail mount it is fairly straight forward, all you would need is a 2-hole direct mount to dovetail converter and then the regulator mount will bolt straight onto that. If it is not a standard dovetail mount you are pretty much up a creek without knowing exactly what it is (and even then parts are going to be hard to find) but your best bet would be a new regulator for the tank so it can screw into a standard ASA but if the tank is coming up on the grave then it would just be better to find a different tank

Haha damn. I just want a good backup tank for under $40. Is that too much to ask?

Turbo is correct as the tank probably needs a hydro and give the age the reg should be rebuilt.

If you are looking for a back up get the hydro and a new screw in reg and you will have a back up tank.

yes, go grab a ninja reg they are great

that aside, $40 is very low to find a tank on, you can probably find a used 48/3k but if you want something good, you are either going to have to find the deal of the century or spend a little more
