So it sounds to me, if you want to replace your CO2 with HPA, all you have to do is buy a regulator and a nitro tank? You don't have to buy anything for your marker? I play at places that have Co2 only and places that have both or only HPA. I would like to be able to use one OR the other depending on where I play.

You can either pick up a HPA bottle that has an adjustable regulator or a set one. As long as it is either preset or adjustable to 850PSI you can use it without any other changes to your gun. Keep in mind that if you buy a reg for the gun (to help smooth out CO2 pressures), then add a HPA tank (They always have built in regs) you will have 2 regs which can get a bit expensive.

How do I find out what psi of a hp tank i should get. I'm definently getting one 'cause where I live its so cold in fall-winter you cannot play with co2. I know my gun runs on low pressure. I'll find out the exact pressure if i need to.

I too have been having an issue on wether I should get co2 or hpa. My gun is a wgp 03 super stock e cocker and I have a budget of 1k. So far I spent 650 on the gun and 100 on the hopper, I really need to know if getting co2 is ok for it. I've checked out prices online and hpa prices range from $190-400 for 4500 psi. Im thinking about a $190 tank. Is it really worth it???

Completely worth the cash, especially in your case.
Just get a 68/4500 tank, HP preset, for like $180 - $200, and you're golden. Crossfire, Center Flag, Nitro Duck, Worrgas, they're all great tanks.
It's so much better than Co2, in alot of ways, and I'm pretty sure that you shouldn't be using Co2 with any cocker anyway.
Koopy, it doesn't matter what psi. HP tank you get. Just keep in mind that the higher it is, the more shots per tank you will get, and the more expensive it will be. The size doesn't change, that's only with the ci.

Im pretty new at paintball and I haven't even gotten all of the parts to my gun so I havn't played b4. In speedball how many balls do you tend to shoot in a game. I know that depends on a lot of things but I alrdy told you the name of my gun and I just don't want to be running out in the middle of a game. Would 400-600 rounds be good?

Depends on if you like to shoot alot, or what.
Your first game, you probably won't even shoot a loader full, but who knows.
If you want to get your position on the field set, like if you're a front player, you'd be shooting little, and trying to be accurate, and tight. But if you were back, you'd be firing almost constantly trying to keep the other guys down, and help out your front men.
But I'd say a loader, and 1 - 2 pods will be enough, so like 300 some paintballs on average.

Well, I have a pretty good gun and I think I'll be shooting quite a bit. I really hate how much the price changes from $70 for 3000psi to $190 for 4500psi. I think I would be in back hiding in shame on my first try though. lol

All of this stuff really adds up to be pricey when ure just beginning, I think I might want to start out with 3000psi and work my way up and upgrade stuff as I get better. It starts burning a hole in ure pocket.

You might be better off just saving the extra money and buying a 4500psi tank instead of a 3000 now and a 4500 later. I guess it depends on how much money you want to waste.

It varies from field to field. We only play outlaw ball so I can't quote HPA fill prices, but since I use a 25lb CO2 tank which gives me about 32 full fills and costs $12 to exchange for a full one it only costs me $0.37 per fill.

Will places like sports authority or welding shops be able to refill HPA tanks?

I own a 20-ounce co2 tank and it helps me without any hassle. I usually keep all my o-rings clean and I oil them to keep them from freezing or breaking. I can get out the same amount of people as people who use HPA. From the first refill, I shot 750 paintballs and I still have over 25% of gas left and I usually play as the left back man. Even if I had some velocity-spikes, I can easily adjust my firing and it would shoot normally in less than a couple of seconds. co2 is cheaper and just as useful as HPA.
