You just need a tank cover, and you need to be careful!

lol Ive never heard that. But if you puncture any pressurized object it can blow up. Just get a cover, as the guy above said

dont be paranoid about n2
its a large improvement for ur gun

and yea if u throw it on a hard rock it would blow up ....
but so would co2 .......

take care of it .... by this i dont mean walk and be supa xtra careful

play normal just dont do anything stupid, i mean i dont think u will go around hitting ur tank on a rock

a tank cover would help .... just be careful

i mean it is 100+ dollars .......

i dont think it would literally BLOW UP
probly would create a large gash and release all u air is like 2 sec
and there goes ur money

a tank wouldnt blow up if u landed on a rock. itll dent, but wont blow up, as speaking in fiber wrapped terms. a steel compressed air tank definately wont blow up. they might if u totally slam the tank down on purpose... but landing on somethin wont do anything

While we're talkin about compressed air, I have a quick question or two. 1. How much does a tank cost for compressed air?(average) and 2. How is it refilled, and how much does it cost each time? I'm currently using CO2 and I'm thinking about upgrading.

1: You can find them used for anywhere from 75-200 dollars. New they run in the high 100 to beyond (usually).

2: It is refilled via the fill nipple, which is located on the side of the reg assembly. You connect the fill nipple to the fill station (whether that be a hose, or a chuck) and then you fill the tank, watching the guage to judge when it's full.

As far as cost to fill, usually it's around $1 per thousand PSI. Most fields offer all day air for a set price though.

Thanks for answering my questions Grungydan. One more though. Is it really worth it to upgrade? I mean, it costs a lot. How much longer will the tank last, compared to, say, a CO2 tank of the same size?

it'll last a shorter time when compared to a similar sized co2 tank. The advantage is that your velocity is not affected by temperature or fast-firing and so you don't have to worry about stuff like that. You also don't have to worry about the difference between liquid and gaseous co2 which also helps keep the velocity steady.

edit: on a more personal note i got air partly cause i was sick of having to mess with my velocity every time i went ot the field and how my velocity changed depending on how full my tank was. I love the air since now i just screw in my tank and i'm almost certain that it's shooting fine (though you should always chrono anyway)

Thanks for the info. Since it doesn't really last longer, I think I'll just stick with CO2 for now, since I'm not that much into the sport yet. I'll probably upgrade eventually though Thanks again.

no bane i think u should up

lol blue u didnt tell him how long it would last except ..... shorter
bane do it its a good improvement that u can switch to any guns u might get in the future and if u plan on getting a high end gun you NEEED NEEEEEEED nitro

and blue forgot to tell u that nitro tanks last 5 years .... than on the set date (on the tank wrap thing) you can go to an airsmith and get it rehydroed for like 20-30 $ i think
then its good for another 5 years ... etc etc

so yea i say go for i get mine today (YAY)

yea GO NITRO !

hunt15 and Bane, be sure to check out the "CO2 or HPA" sticky, there's some good info there.

@ Bane:

As far as the expense, it's sort of a balancing act.

While a CO2 tank is definitely cheaper at first, in general CO2 fills cost up to twice as much as air.

A good HPA tank might be expensive when you buy it, but air fills are cheaper at almost all fields. The exception of course being fields that don't fill HPA, but those are becoming less common as everyone realizes that tons of players want to use air at their fields.

It really just depends on what you want to get out of your system, whether or not you can get fills, etc.

Edit*: BTW, sweet name. Did you take it from D&D by any chance? (I'm a geek, I know )
