Macroline Help
Hello guys.
I’m in need of some expert advice.
I have a 32 degree Macroline setup with 2 90-degree elbows. One, sometimes both, of the elbows leak. More specifically, it CO2 seems to be escaping from between the collar and the elbow. It can be pretty bad at times, enough to form frost on the elbow itself. It used to do this once in a while, but it's become more frequently lately.
I’ve tried a new line and of different lengths. I’ve also always made sure that the ends of the lines were clean, straight, and perpendicular to the line itself.
So what gives? What’s causing this?
Any help and suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
- Gil

I'm not sure what to tell you apart from what you already said. If it looks flat and is still leaking maybe it could be flatter? Put a piece of sandpaper grit side up on a pane of glass or very flat surface and sand it in circles. The amount of air leaking out seems like it's less of a flat problem and more of one where it can't grip the hose right. Make sure to use a new piece (sorry, I know you've said this already) that doesn't have any clamp marks on it. Once one has been used several times it tends to leak. Before you pressure it up, press the hose in all the way while pulling up on the metal gap to help grip it and screw the tank on slowly. Normally the gas pressure causes the movement/gap to appear which is what grips the tube but you might have to help it along.
Then again the clamp might just be damaged or worn out.

I might help to CALl 32degrees, and ask if the kit is rated for CO2.
Most macro kits are rated for around 500-800psi, and are NOT sutable for Co2.
They do make 1500psi kits that work with CO2, but are less common.

this is where it leaks.
unfortunately, the sanding didn't help.

well, i know what nick said is true, but it should work for a while at least before it blows. try looking for one of those high pressure ones like he said. if you can't find one, make the piece very long, so that it bends. seems to work better for me.

make sure your line is long enough! there is a notch right after the bend in the fitting. use that as the point to cut the line. i added a pic to show you. if that doesnt work you probablly have a bad fitting.

you could have moved the fitting on the expansion chamber to point down and the one on the asa to a horizontal position and then put the macro on. i know if you just move the macro a little or adjust the position it will stop leaking.

no can do, remix. the elbow are on a joint; they'll pivot to pretty much whatever position they want.

Haven't really seen anyone use a macroline for a CO2. I always thought that the CO2 will freeze up the line or something.
