2 quick air questions..

Getting into the game again and don't know much about air. I know everything there is about CO2...

I have an autococker and putting air on it. I am looking at the Crossfire 68/4500 since I have seen quite a few great reviews on this. I know that it has 68 cubic inches to hold air and it will allow pressures up to 4500 psi.

What I don't know...
Looking at a site and the tank comes with some sort of valve that regulates the pressure cominng out of the tank. I see one for 450 and 750 psi. When I took my Autococker to the local shop I was told the Airamerica regulator was set to 300 psi, this is where it gets fuzzy. Why would anyone need an external regualtor if the tank has one built in? Which (450/750 psi) one would someone reccommend?

Thanks for any iformaion..

People call these tanks presets because the regulator on the tank is set at the factory to a certain output pressure (HP, and LP). I think that cockers would need the HP preset (750psi.), but I am not certain, ask around. The reg on your gun is used to dial down the air pressure coming in from the tank.

Get a high pressure preset. There's no reason to buy a LP tank for a cocker. The inline reg is there for a reason: to regulate that high pressure down to the marker's operating pressure.

Also, all air tanks have this "valve," like Pizzer said. That's the regulator. The regulator takes the pressure in the tank (in this case 4,500 pounds) and brings it down to ~750-800psi. If you tried to run 4500psi straight into your marker, it would explode.

So its a stair stepping effect? From the 4500 psi in the tank to the 750 psi for the inline reg on the tank to the ??? psi for the Airamerica reg I have installed on the Autococker.

Exactly. The regulator on all HPA tanks is mainly the reason they are so expensive BTW.
