Bulk CO2 Tank Question
Hi,
I want to fill my own CO2 tanks (a dozen of us heading off to the woods for long weekend of hunting each other). I've got a 32 Degrees "deluxe" fill station and a hanging digital scale. No problems there.
I went to the local welding shop and rented a 20 pound tank of CO2 to practice on. Specifically requested a siphon/dip tube so that should be OK.
The bulk tank has a CGA320 valve on it. Little handwheel to open and close the valve. The valve attachment itself (the bit that you screw the fill station to) looks like a threaded brass cylinder with a small hole down the center (running into the tank, it's where the CO2 flows).
The fill station has a "carbonic nut" - just a big honkin' brass nut that tightens onto the bulk tank valve.
Problem is that no gas is flowing from the bulk tank. Main tank valve is on, but I'm not getting anything.
The fill station and the bulk tank valve both end with flat surfaces that press against each other (there's a white plastic o-ring inside the carbonic nut). Do I need to request some kind of special fitting for the bulk tank, or is there only one type of CGA320 fitting and it's standard around the world?
Anything else I might be doing wrong? The directions for the fill station are totally simple. Difference between "Open" and "Closed" on the bulk tank handwheel is about 1/8 turn.
Thanks for any help!
