Custom Viking project
Well, this forum doesn't get many replies, but I'll give it a shot here anyway.
My friend is making a custom matrix and I thaught of a lot of ideas, and decided I want to make a custom gun too. I remembered there is a raw viking for sale so I'm thinking of buying it, then getting some custom work done on it.
I'm thinking of a milling pattern similar to the Highlander, with a little extra meat taken off the front. I would have a little laser engraving done too.
I would finish it off with a Type III gun metal grey anno.
So my question, where should I get the gun milled at, who does the highlander viking and excal, and where can I get type III done?
Along with the gun I am thinking of a BP no-rise and a MM to have anno'd with it, anything else I might need?
Thanks.

Ok, I got a basic idea for the milling. How much do you think this will cost me?
- Highlander Style milling on the back half of the gun
- The bot tube cut as close to the feedneck as possible
- Area around the ASA cut down
- Body lightened as much as possible
- 'STFU' Laser Engraved into the bolt tube

A lot. Give FBM a call and talk to them. If anyone, they will probably do it best and cheapest.

Sounds like a kick ass project, when you get it done (and i know it wont be soon) you will have to post pics up. I always thought Viks were hot, i bet yours will be pretty awsome as well.

Yeah, I decided my DM5 won't need any upgrades so I will have a lot of cash to spare and nothing really to spend it on. I plan on getting a raw vik then waiting until I have the money to mill it and anno it and everything, then send it back to AKA to get it all done.
I have always loved Vikings but was never really into any of the milling patterns, so I decided to make my own. I never got a viking becuase they are heavy, but this one would be light, so it would be perfect.
I'll give fbm a call when I have some money put away for this gun. So far I only have like 50 dollars in a can in my room. I gotta start is somewhere.
Don't worry, there will be pics, lot of pics.

DC does some great work. They said they could get a Viking down to ~2lbs and they do Type III annodizing. I emailed DC about some extra milling on my Viking, which weighs ~3lbs. Here was the responce.
Quote:
Hi Mike,
we will do the fsp treatment to your marker for $75.00 2-3 oz savings
we can also offer some weight saving options
superlite gripframe milling $40.00 saves almost 5 ozs.
superlite tray with snatchgrip (1/2 weight of standard tray) $65.00 includes new
switch and led
internal weight savings $60.00 removes hidden weight in noid area 2-3 ozs.
the complete marker should be re anodized, $165.00 for strip and reanodize any
single color type II or III
please send the marker assembled as we will do all dissassmbly re assembly and
testing
we are workong on a dc freestyle along with a merlin and a a cyborg
we have no weight figgures as of yet but expect them to be light
the fsp destructive freestyle will be in the neighborhood of 1100.00

One problem with Type III anno is that your colors have to be basic, I think a gun metal grey should be good though.

I seen someone on nation with a gun metal gray highlander excal. It was hot.
I'll talk to DC about my ideas. I'll try to do some drawings too that I could email them.
