the chaos series are great guns stock, although I've heard things about those bolts flying out at the most inoportune times... might consider getting a new bolt. You can probably hold off on the barrel, unless you have money. Besides a new bolt and barrel, race it. Everything else is great stock.
Some parts you can't tell if they are timed w/out air, but some you can:
1) Pull your back block ALL the way back (the gun should cock, if it doesn't skip to step three), and look down the feedneck into the breech. Can you see the bolt at all? You shouldn't, it should be completely invisible when looking straight down.
2) Push the back block all the way forward. Now look at the gun sideways in between the back block and the back of the body where the back block meets the gun; you should be able to see a thin space between the body and the block, about two or three playing cards worth.
3) When you pull back the cocking rod, does it cock? If it does, good. Now pull the trigger. Does the sear release the hammer? If it does, good.
If if it won't cock, take out the bolt, and insert a 1/8 allen wrench in the hole on top of the gun behind the feedneck; you'll have to feel arounda bit until it catches most likey. When it catches, turn it clockwise to lear the hammer sear. Do it about 1/4-1/2 a turn at a time, pull out the allen wrench, and try to recock the gun. Continue until it catches and the cocking rod stays back, and pull the trigger to relase it. Do that about 5 times. If it does it all 5 times, then you're good. If not, turn it down another 1/4 a turn and test it again.
That's all you can do w/out gas. When you get air, cock the gun before gassing it up. When you gas it up, the back block should move into the close position, forward as close as it can get to the body to where you set it. If it goes the other way, away from the gun, your hoses on the ram are backwards (very unlikely unless the previous owner was a complete idiot).
I'm getting a sudden case of the lazies, probably cuz I jsut got back from two finals... I'll type up the rest about what to do when you get gas later!! Anyways, hope this helps for now, and welcome to the cocker family!!
-edit- I forgot how to tell you how to fix it if the bolt is too far forward or if the back block is not in the right position... I'll do that later too
