according to another post at paintball.com. K2 may be getting out of paintball, in case you don't know k2 they are the company who has ruined wgp's good name, killed the autococker and make the worst guns ever made (brass eagle and viewloader). They aquired wgp in '04 which explains the trilogy, the not so selectable select fire and of couse the worrmachine. This also can be used as an explanation for the basic hault of all outside autococker marker and part manufacture (eblades perhaps? we may never know). Anyway, apparently they have been losing money and realized they're over their head. Im pleased to hear this, if anyone has any feedback or can defend k2 i'd love to have you're opinions, i do realize that everyone does NOT share my feelings.

Why is this good news?

K2 goes down, half of extreme sports companies go down with it. WGP dies, and cockers are shoved even further into the corner of the paintball world.

i think he means K2 is bailing out of the paintball industry.

WGP is screwed, i don't think they can bring it back. While the karni and latest blackmagic showed promise cockers don't register anymore on people's radars.

Now cocker are a dieing breed which will become extinct. There are faster guns out there that dont break nearly as easy.

wait so your happy that wgp is going to fail? since K2 is pulling away all of the business's that depend on it. In other words...the leeches that suck life out of it will die as well. Kill the host kill the parasite, WGP, BE, VL, all down the hole into the black abyss

Well, other people, for example the original owners, may decide to buy back the businesses for a fraction of the cost. I suspect JT and VL will somehow be acquired due to the popularity of their apparel and hoppers. As for WGP and BE... I dunno. Or, no one might want them at all, and Proflexs, VLocitys, Karnivors, etc. might all just stop being produced.

idk.. BE might get bought up.. they do still make a lot of crap for newer players.. practically everything sold here is VL, BE, and JT... that sucks if WGP goes down the hole though...

Vl and Jt will hopefully get bought up do to i like there hoppers and such. It wouldnt supprise me if they did get bought.

Although I'm a cocker fanatic, I can't say I'd miss for 1 millisecond if WGP went completely out of business. If anything has kept the cocker from being able to keep up with more modern guns, it's WGP and their pricing. Over $300 for a MECH!!! If they go out of business, I can see cocker clones being made again, and with no K2/WGP to constantly threaten lawsuits because the clones are infringing upon inventions that they (being WGP/K2) didn't make anyway but somehow believe they have the rights to, the cocker might very well experience a resurgence at it's proper price-point in today's game. If not, so be it...they caused their own demise by suing everyone who made anything for their guns, and pricing them WAY over what they're worth. They made their bed, I have no issues with them lying in it.

I didn't mean that it's good that they're failing. im just being optimistic that another company will buy wgp and treat it right. K2 knows nothing about the sport of paintball. IT's all the companies they own that have the knowledge. Im just hoping another company will buy wgp and try something to bring it back to the top where it belongs instead of falling fast.

Whether or not WGP gets bought by someone else who knows what they are doing, cockers aren't going to make a comeback. All the companies like Freeflow and Eclipse who manufacture highend cocker parts are either no longer in business or no longer manufacturing cocker upgrades. Cocker resale has already taken the huge plunge and probably will never recover. And all the negative hype about cockers has been allowed to run rampant. We will never see the 2nd rise of the cocker as we know it.

All the recent WGP markers I've shot have been fairly decent. Trilogys, the new BM, Karni (obv :P), Super and Prostock, they all seemed like fairly solid markers.

I have no idea if you'll ever see a ressurgence of tournament level cockers (Ultimate still shoots the BM....) however WGP can survive even if the Tourny/Speedball players never buy from them again...

Look at Kingman, Tippmann, Brass Eagle (whom apparantly have sold more markers than all the other manufacturers combined...).

Personally I find there recent business practices to be reprehensible recently, however Autocockers have kept me in this sport over the past 12 years <3 WGP

I like watching the intricate dance of well machined parts its like my own personal ballet

still, you gotta admit it's like the death of custom tourny guns. Cockers are beutiful that way you can build from the ground up and get a gun better than an angel (or just as good). You can also spend time makeing it look different, like pimpin it with chrome. IF you know another tourney gun that has the versitility of a cocker let me know, i like custom, and now as soon as you can't find eblades on ebay or forums anymore, the tourney custom cocker will die and with it individualism in paintball.

P.S. i know u can customize others, but not to the same degree

they may be the most customizable, but that's not what people want anymore; they want something that mows faces out of the box and they don't have to spend time on. as long as there are cocker enthusiasts out there, there will always be cockers to shoot, but as for cockers in the tourney scene, they've been fading out for quite some time now, and it's only a matter of time before they go out completely, whether wgp goes down or not.

I still haven't read anything about this besides this thread... not that I don't find the idea of K2 dropping paintball improbable, I just haven't seen any confirmation of this rumor.
