How to pressfit a feedneck.
So I just picked up a night Kast that doesn't have a threaded feedneck.
I just so happen to have an old angel CCM feedneck laying around.
It also just happens that the OD on the stock and angel feedneck are the same...
After a little time with the file. (10 minutes or so) I have a neck ready to be pressed in.
Throwing CCM neck in freezer to wait for the project marker to arive. See you in a couple days for more pics!

Tools needed for the job.
(sledge, wood block, Gear puller, Aluminum bolt, wrench and smokes!)
Pull the old feedneck using the gear puller and the aluminum bolt to push against.
Freeze the feedneck to get it to shrink. (I used a 20lb Co2 tank to frost it over) then coat w/ red lock tite. (the lock tite serves 2 purposes. 1st as a lube to help the neck seat, then as a bonding agent.)
Next is to tap the neck into place. I carefully line everything up, slide a paper town in the breach (quick clean up of the locktite) then use a wooden block and a sledge to seat the new neck.
Clean excess lock tite, install eye and ball detent, Test fit w/ a loader and its done!

thanks man!
I find the documention to be the hardest part.
I do crap like this all the time, and always forget to take pics.
I'm trying to make a better effort to document some of the "how to's"

yeh, whenever I do stuff like that I never even think about a how-to till its already done.
Your install was sure a lot easier than mine was tho. It was a pain having to turn the proto neck down on a lathe. We didnt exactly have the right tools to work with on the lathe, so that made things quite difficult.

I have a trix neck here too, (should be same as proto) and the OD is quite a bit bigger. (like a full MM)
I remembered you and fatman using proto. I opted for this first, and it seems to be in there nice and tight. I think angel neck's will be my recomendation from now on. (for cockers anyway)

Yeh, we had to take quite a bit off to make it the same diameter as the prostock feedneck. I am probably going to end up replacing it eventually since it didnt come out so great, but it works fine for now so i haven't been too worried about it.
I think if I have to do it again ill probably send it off to FBM and have them put the hooker feedneck in there. I dont really want to deal with that again...

It would be good to add a nice electro with a poppet valve to your collection. I know jaggy likes to keep both a poppet and a spool valve marker around usually, and i would have to agree that it is a good idea.

If you get a new neck, just send it down. I'm thinking about changing out a few more too. I may build a jig if I have enough to do. I wouldn't mind dropping my karni neck down a little too.
Do the hooker's come pre cut? I wanted to drop it as low as possible to reduce that mid rise cockers have.

They are sort of cut. You have to reem and hone them once its installed or else the bolt doesnt fit back into the breech, but they are in the "general" shape that they need to be I guess you could say...

yeah, I went and took a look at them. On the angel, I forgot about the eye cover screw and had to mod that last minute. its not really that bad to create the shape from scratch. once I make a template and jig, it'll be really easy. even by hand.
The cool thing about a cocker vs an impulse (the other one I have pressed in) is the cocker has so much metal to metal contact. The imp was very minimal. I was concerned about that one. (its been a year and still going strong though.)
