Maddman springs cut or not to cut. normal?

The problem I have is that I purchased a maddman spring kit just to renew the springs on my black magic cocker. The first thing that I noticed is that the maddman valve spring is shorter than stock & hammer spring is longer than stock. I have put in both green (soft) valve & hammer springs in gun, and can no longer sweet spot reg. With IVG screwed in two turns and reg set at 200 PSI it shoots at 280 FPS. The higher you turn up reg FPS can go into 400+ Not good. Is it normal not to sweet spot reg and to adjust velocity with the reg and not IVG? Or do you need to cut springs to stock size? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The soft valve spring is allowing for some amazing dwell. You could try increasing the tension on the valve spring. (or put stock spring back in there) that would help reduce your dwell and let you get your reg sweet spotted.

I think however that spring combination is for LP funtion, so that would make sense that the sweet spot may be much higher fps.

It really depends on what performance you are looking for. LP or efficiency driven?

Thanks Jaggy13 for your time with my problem. I'm not trying to make my gun low pressure I was just trying to put brand new springs in because everything else on gun is new. and that was the only spring kit I could find, Efficiency is a better way to go. Ill try to put the medium blue valve spring and the soft green hammer spring in and see what happens. If that does not work ill put both stock springs back in. Thanks again

I don't have much experience w/ the spring kits. I bet there is a chart out there somewhere of expected results w/ the different combinations.

good luck w/ it and post up when you get the settings you like.

Hey Jaggy13, Just to let you know that I two dont have experience with springs and there many combinations. So I went two my local paintball shop and bought a different spring kit. He told me to start with the yellow springs both hammer & valve. popped them in and walla. Reg sweet spotted at 350 PSI and shooting at 280 FPS easy. Thanks again and by the way love your Mini black magic & feed neck conversion. Have a GREAT day! Baykahz
