should I buy an Autococker

I will be playing primarily woodsball and some speedball. I am interested in autocockers because of their accuracy. I am just getting back into paintball after about 10yrs. I had a spyder back then and always wanted an autococker but could not afford one bec. i was in jr. high. Is the trilogy series as accurate as other autocockers? Other than the trilogy series are their other affordable autocockers? ($200 to $300) I like tinkering with stuff so the autococker is appealing. What would be some advantages of an autococker over a tippman a-5? I appreciate any help you all could provide.

Autocockers are no longer the way to go in the less expensive marker department... i know how you feel, i also returned to the sport after a long absence and always wanted an autococker back then but all i could afford was a spyder. The more expensive cockers are awesome, but the cheaper ones can be poor shooters (worr machine) or discontinued (like the trilogy series, not that there's anything wrong with them). There's also the wgp synergy but i have no idea how good it is.

Mind you the sport has changed, evolved into this beast of jargon, technique and equipment.

Have a look at the proto, indian creek or even the spyder VS series, they're all good modestly priced markers. But if you really want a trilogy, i belive the trilogy pro is the better one.

And accuracy depends on the marker somewhat, but it'll depend a lot on the barrel bore size and the size of the paint. You have to match them, so barrel kits are a must for the serious player nowadays.

The accuracy of autocockers is a myth they are still a solid choice but like Automags they are no longer mainstream and have more of a loyal cult following than anything else. The trilogy series were an effort to cash in on the lower end market but by and large failed because the 'cocker faithful considered them a dumbed down cocker and the low end market bought into Tippmanns and cheaper electros instead. For $300 you could get a used autococker that would blow away the trilogy series in every way the only thing you have to keep in mind is that if your used autococker works when you get it DON'T TINKER WITH ANYTHING. The advantage to a good autococker over an A5 is that A5's are heavy, slow, inefficient, loud, ugly, poorly constructed and once again ugly. Autocockers properly tuned are quiet, efficient and fast everything you want in a semi auto mechanical marker.

Accuracy is a lie in all paintball guns, the only difference between in a closed and open bolt is the ball to ball consistency, closed bolts (cockers) tend to be more consistent ball to ball because of the low recoil in comparison to a blowback (spyders and intimidators) plenty of recoil but the intimidator is such a fast shooter you won't even notice the (for comparison means i'll use the word) "bad" ball to ball consistency just because the stream of paint is fast enough to resemble a rope (shooting ropes)

I rarely see autocockers anymore. I always loved the consistency of them. Shot after shot landing right on the other. But they are pretty dated. Ions and promasters have pretty much replaced them in the lower end speedball situation. As for woodsball a cocker can be pretty delicate so it depends what kind you get. I know my friends old 2k2 superstock i think i cant even remember now wasnt the best choice for woodsball especially with the 3 way tubes out in the open.

you probably should have sold it, you could have bought a karnivor (probably the best full sized cocker out) with half the money they were giving you
