Getting a cocker...

After 5 years of screwing around with older spyders and some smart parts junk I have decided to get a cocker, mainly because I love to tinker with stuff or customize it. With cockers you can do both, so I want one. Looking around you can buy any used cocker dirt cheap. I was looking at some older orracles...Is this a good gun to start with or would something else be better?

They're very nice. The one thing you will dislike is that they do not have threaded feednecks, so you either need to hacksaw the stock one to use Ego/Trinity necks (Ego better and shorter, but require a lot more hacking), or send it off to have the standard press feed neck pulled out and replaced with a threaded neck (not sure how many places still do this), or try to get a hopper that matches the size of the feedneck well. If you're ok with that limitation, Orries are fantastic baselines to start with.

You can usually find Freeflows for about the same as Orracles, with better parts. I would go with one of those, I'm partial to Rhythm and Lotus bodies myself.

regarding the feednecks, you could also just file the outside of a hopper's feedneck to make it fit, thats what i did with my evlution 2
