ANS race frame, worrblade, E2

Seeing a recent question about raceguns, it got me thinking of an electronic cocker project. Not an MQ'd one but just a regular electronic sear tripping cocker. I'd just buy a cheap wgp frameless drilled body with internals, lpr and ram and go from there.

Never dealt with an electronic cocker before so here's the question. Which system? Planet eclipse eblade E2, wgp worrblade or ans race frame? I can get any of them used for relatively cheap though the race frame costs bit more than the other two.

Have read great things about all 3 and many bad things about the race frames and worrblades but never anything really bad about the eblades. Do enlighten me.

Worrblade = E1 other than minor cosmetic differences.
E2 >>> Worrblade/E1. LCD instead of LED, better battery life, better trigger. Obviously E1 or Worrblade + ZeroB will have the same battery and LCD advantage as the E2. Also, any of the 3 can take the Tadao Yakuza OLED board to get even better battery life, modern tournament modes, and of course that pretty OLED display.

Raceframes were great. However, you basically need to carry your laptop with you, since you can only change modes with it hooked up to your computer (semi auto no biggie). It also uses rechargable batteries, which of course are both a positive and a negative. There are fewer parts out there for them. And for ME, the big killer is that if you DID decide you at some point wanted to get MQ, you'd have to find an ORIGINAL MQ w/ the race connecter. The MQ2 isn't compatible with Race due to them not feeling like designing 2 different noids for the 2 different voltages (9v for E1/E2/Worr, 4.8V for Race). However, it is user upgradable firmware. Depending on which version of Race you got, you could download modern tourney modes for it if needed.

You didn't specifically name it, but I'll also talk about the WorrFRAME. This came after Eblades were discontinued. It's a VERY low quality LED light (not LED readout like the E1) frame. The boards are finicky, the membrane pads that were used are VERY delicate, and they suck battery as bad if not worse than the E1. They also have basically no modes to speak of. However, if you're into modification, you can usually find these cheap, get a YAkuza OLED board, modify the frame so that you could read the OLED and use the buttons (they're physically same dimensions as E2, and the blister pack material makes a great OLED cover to keep paint from it), and the trigger on them was actually, IMO, REALLY NICE!! They also had an integrated rail so you could use your favorite on/off without getting an additional rail.

IMO, E2 + Tadao Yakuza > All. But not cheap.

thanks for the info tlmiller. I was leaning towards the race frame because it seemed like more but now i know its weaknesses. I understand karnivores came with original planet eclipse brand E2's at some point, is this true? If so, i might just pick an old karnivore and save myself some grief

The ones you're referring to actually came with a Worrblade with e2 board. Still had the integrated rail and Worrblade trigger (Worrblade trigger sucks even more than the E1 trigger IMO). they are also not compatible with E2 triggers, but instead E1 triggers.

Yeah, Race was definitely better than the E1 in almost every way. Better battery life, more modes, better trigger. However E1 + trigger + board or E2 will be on par with the Race as far as that goes. Some people will still prefer Race. I myself have always wanted to get one still, but they still cost an arm and a leg as often as not even used, so have never bothered.

Yeah no kidding, a brand new race frame from ANS is almost 400 after shipping. I HATE ramping and modes and all that crap. All i'm really interested in is semi since i'm such an old fart that i like to be able to control how many balls i'm shooting without my marker going ape**** after a few consecutive clics of the trigger.

I'm thinking i'm going to go race frame after all. Get this, the race frame with all its goodies at ans is 375. Or you can get the gx-e for 400 now. Still expensive for a 7 year old ecocker but saves the work of putting it together myself.
