So I recently got back into the sport of pb. I played in jr high and high school. Played with whatever came my way. Lower end stuff usually. Well I picked up an a-5 dirt cheap last year and have been playing a lot. Now that I have the funds I want to look into getting a cocker, I always admired them. I was looking at the Karnivor. Does anyone have any input on there actual use of this marker? Also are there any other readily available cockers that you would recommend over this? I am not against mechs just electros seem more popular now and I dont mind used at all.

My budget is around $400 possibly squeeze out another $100 if I can find something I really like.

And as far as shooting them goes. Theres one field in my area and last time I played I asked the owner if any of the regulars shot cockers and he said he hadnt seen one in quite a few years.

Also I do play quite a bit of woodsball but will probably play more speedball if I get a cocker just because its hard to even find woods games around here anymore

The time of the autococker is long gone. They still can be great markers, but they've never been known for reliability. They're also quire heavy, in comparison to the new markers.

The Karni is still a fairly sought after marker though, because of what it is. Cockers still hold a niché market, but they're not being used on the field very often.

This I know from my research. I still love them. And I still want one. When I came back to playing I knew it was either automag or cocker, new fangled electros be damned. I ended up settling on the cocker. Dont know why. Just always wanted one. Plus mags are mags, cockers are artwork.

05 Black Magic was nice (half-blocked from factory). Before that, they were just remilled STO's. Or Orracles. One of the other WGP lines. I can't remember anymore for sure. Orracle was just the "new" STO before the Karnivore came out.

SR's are comfortable and light (for cockers), but ugly and cheaply made. They had major quality issues, although buying one used you shouldn't have to deal with those yourself.

that is right about the time that cockers were really getting popular so I am not surprised you see a lot of them

here is mine

http://www.paintballforum.com/paintball-chat/183940-now-moment-you-have-all-been.html

realistically I started out with a $200 used cocker superstock and then immediately put another $200 into the frame and MQ2 valve, if that is all you did you would be at $400ish with quite a nice setup

BMs are nice my only complaint about them is the body. it is just so bland. I thought about picking up a BM body to get a midblock out of mine rather than doing it myself but i knew I would not be happy with the body of it

I know this is an old thread, but I'm getting back into the game and I'm making a custom Kapp Classic cocker. Also I'm asking around field owners in the Bay Area California and see who would be interested in running a mech only, PSP format tournament.

so if you know any field owners in the California Bay Area, ask them if they could hold a mech only, PSP formatted tournament.
