Sure, why not? It may be more expensive in the long run, but not by much. Also, you have your totally custom cocker.

If it is your first one though, I wouldnt recommend it. There are too many things that may go wrong, and if you have no previous knowlege, stuff can get messed up.

yeah, buy a cheap stock cocker, and then eventually get around to upgrading everything, including the body. that's what im doing. that way, you can still play with it, and eventually it'll be totally custom.

I too would recommend getting a cheap cocker and upgrading if this is your first cocker, but if you are set on a custom cocker, try www.ottersccustoms.com, they have a guide on doing what you want to do. I think it would be really fun.
