Cool Upgrading your cocker. For the poor man.

Ok, say I buy a ANS GX-3 (i found a great deal) heres a list of the things I'm going to need to upgrade.

-Barrel
-Bolt
-Ram
-3-way
-Trigger/Frame
-Ball Detent

But the question is in which order and what type of parts from which company?

Well I've read the stock bolt is crap on this gun and the Ram and 3-way should be upgraded. I'll probably want to upgrade my bolt first so I don't scratch anything. Since it doesn't come with a stock barrel (or at least I think so, thats why its so cheap) I'll have to buy one of those right away. What kits do you recomend for Autocockers and What length, bore sizes. I was thinking about getting a 1-piece barrel set but then again a Kit will last me longer. Freak? Kaner? Scepter? Evil? which ones are good and not too pricey.

Now the GX-3 is a custom cocker, which means all the parts may not fit (shocktech supafly bolt wont fit end block). So I wanna buy the right ones, does this mean I have to buy from all ANS parts?

So just post in which order I should upgrade, some part recomendations and so on. I'm either upgrading my trigger/frame to a E-blade or E2, depending if I can rake up the cash. If E-blade prices drop because of E2, then I'll most likely go with that.

Thanks for the help

ANS bolts use a pushpin, so aftermarket bolts made by other companies won't fit into the ANS back block. So you could just buy a new back block, however it won't look as pretty as it won't fit the milling of the marker. I used the stock bolt in my gx-4 for a while and it never really caused me any trouble, so thats pretty much your call.

Dont upgrade the 3-way if you are planning on getting and eblade in the future, as a special one comes with the frame.

Ram is a definite must. I would strongly suggest getting the FF or Nexus ram with QEV's/TRV's whatever, you will need a fast ram to keep up with the eblade.

As far as barrel goes: <$50 J&J ceramic
$50-100 Dye Ultralight
$100-150 J&J Edge Kit
$150-200 Evil Pipe Kit
$200+ Poison Arrow.

class is over I gotta run, I'll finish it when I get back to the dorm

If I were poor like you, this is what I would do....

1) CP 12-14in one-piece barrel
2) Shocktech BOMB 3-way
3) New Free Flow ram
4) AKA lightning bolt

in that order

Ok, thanks for the advice. I had my eyes on a Ultralite too. Either that or SP Big Daddy or a Stiffi I heard was good.

I'll probably end up getting the ANS Delrin bolt/block so it fits the pretty milling.

Then I'll do that RAM, probably not for a while so I don't have to time it again.

After that I'll get a E-blade when I get a job.

im trying to get into the whole cocker field (Damn spyders...) too, so im learning this stuff too so...

if hes planing to get an e-blade, that comes with like an electric 3 way right? so wouldnt it just be better for him to use the stock one and save the money that would go to a new one for the e-blade?

Thats true, but it all depends on how long he plans on keeping it mechanical, before he buys the eblade. If he plans on getting the e-blade shortly, no he shouldnt waste his time, but if hes going to wait a while to get it, he should buy a better 3-way.
