That's kind of a weird question, whoever you listened to and heard that, never listen to them again. I've only seen a few cockers with barrels shorter than 12"... Strange.
I know that popular opinion is that 12-16 is best, but when I look at the autococker pics thread most of them are shorter than that. I'm just wondering why.

I know Jim has a short barrel when he had his cocker. He said it was just as accurate as any other barrel he used. Other than him, I know of no one who uses a short barrel on their cockers. Maybe because of how the threads are not at the end of the gun (front block is), it looks shorter 0?
how they cocker is set up makes the barrel look short.w/ the pneumatics and everything. i have 16inch allamerican on mine.

best length IS 12......length of barrel has apsoultly nothing to do with accuracy....if you get the exact same barrel you will not notice n e thing between a 12 inch and a 14 inch and a 16 inch.
What makes ur gun accurate is your gun consistancy...and paint to barrel match.
i have a 12 inch pipe and i have NOT seen anything more accurate. peopel agree, its accurate as hell. If i miss a target...its because I didnt line the gun up right...not because of the barrel making the paint innacurate.
choose between a 12 and 14 inch...i wouldnt go any longer or shorter
