help me choose a barrel kit.
I need a barrel kit for my cocker.
I am currently considering, Freak, Empire, Evil, Stiffi and Hammerhead.
I am leaning tward the hammerhead.
I want to hear some testimonials, what kit and why.

This goes in the barrel & Paint forum.Don't get the evil pipe kit though they are bad,and the empire kits are good and freak kits are good but be careful around the inserts. And stiffi kits are VERY nice i'm not sure about the hammerheads.

Stiffis are the best barrels, period. I've used so many different barrels, but if you ever ask what I want to shoot, it's a Stiffi. They are very light, and shoot very straight.

Thanks for the reply's guys!
I will set my sights on the stiffi.
What size ? 12" 14" or 16"
I would lean tward 12 but I am not sure what the effective length is before porting.
Not sure if I can do a new one. So if anyone is selling a used setup let me know.
(sorry bout posting in the wrong forum, I tried to move it but not sure I can. Mod plesae move if needed.)

What are you going to be playing?
Airball, you'd want a 16"
Anything else, 14".

LOL. well, kindof a redneck that plays outlaw ball.
actually I am thinking of trying out for a local team and either mid of front. (I am big tho 6'4" 210lbs so front might be out) and I am just to aggresive to play back.
Mostly I want the shortest barrel with the most effective barrel length. (if that makes sence) I want the range without the footprint (better?)

Take a 12", it doesn't really matter between 12 and 14, but in the end, what do you think?

I was thinking 12 also, but I have never seen the barrel in person. It looks to be ported for the last 3rd, so that would give a good 8" of effective barrel.
Also what do you guys think about the poison arrow kit? may be able to trade for it.

Yea, I'd go with the Stiffi, one of the store owners of our field was telling me about her using one on her timmy. First she was using a boom stick, she was shooting at her mirror, arcing her shots, kept trying to get the guy but couldnt. Someone let her use a stiffi, when she tried to arc her shots it went over the netting, so she lowered the gun level to him, gogged the guy.

Psh, most everyone that plays airball uses 16", even front players. I know one of our front guys used a 16" at cup, another used a 14".

Hmmm, I'm surprised at no one saying anything about barrel/ paint matching for the best accuracy and consistency.
I use a Freak Jr with 4 inserts and love it.
I can rope paint all day long without a break and love the fact you can size the paint too.
Playing at different tournaments in different states requires a barrel that can match the different types of paint out there. Not having this capability can be a pain when it comes to paint sizing. I've used everyone of my inserts when playing at different places and the others on the team use a single barrel. While they are busting paint in their barrels, I'm taking ppl out.
Everyone claims the inserts are fragile but if you take care of them to prevent anything from happening to them, will never have a problem with the inserts.
Multiple bore barrels or inserts rock if you're serious about how you shoot paint. Don't skimp or if you do go with a Stiffi, get at least the .689, .691 and .693 sizing as these are the most popular sizes I've shot with.
Good luck with your barrel choice and yes, had to be the Freak about the Freak kit.

thanks for all the input guys.
Misnblu / I am looking for a kit. (I am very aware of the bore to paint size match)
I am not considering anything other than a barrel kit or system.
I have an oportunity to get a poison arrow system for $190. that seems a little high even for that pimp of a system. (280 retail). I am trying to work some trades with him now.
After the research that I have done today this leads me to my next question/thought.
If bore match is that important (wich I believe it is.) take a kit like the stiffy, the bore match is only a couple inches long, if that. Then the barrel is bigger. wouldn't a longer section of bore be better? Poison arrow claims 5" is the magic #. that looks close to what the freak inserts or the 2 piece barrels are. Wouldn't those be better than say the stiffi or hammerhead?
keep the coments coming.
thanks.

Well to wrap this up I had my heart set on no less than 8 kits at any one point today. but I was able to trade some stuff for the poison arrow kit.
Thanks DayoftheGreek!
Thanks to everyone for the banter I think I would have gone 1 stiffi then 2 freak then 3 empire if not for the arrow.
