RaceFrame eye instilation

ok guys im gettin a race frame and was wondering...is it in any way possibly that i can install the eyes myself?

i understand its drilling holes into the body itself and involves sotering...but can someone go into more detail if it is possible to do it myself?

Are you getting it from just some person or buying it from racegun?

I was just reading through my Eblade manual, and it has a nice pull out template for drilling the holes. If your raceframe manual has that, and you feel comfortable drilling the holes I would say go for it. Doesn't look extremely technical. Just make sure that the gun body is level when you drill the holes. If you have the proper tools it should be easy. If not it could be much more difficult. good luck.

I am torn between the race frame from RaceGun...and a race frame by ANS at another site....racegun is $450...and ANS Race is $400...

Im trying to see if there is even a difference between the 2 frames other then looks...both come with eyes and both are able to hook up to a computer.

Do you count Orracles as high performance? Orracles have the 15º asa and i think it looks hot... but i dont see how it would make the gun sit too high, its just changein the angle of the reg.

i wouldn't call him a nub for giving the right info, what do you think angles the reg? hmph...the asa? i still don't see how it would make it sit too high, it is just affecting the angle and i still don't see when he referred to the regulator as the asa

the ASA adaptor is where u screw your tank into...not where the reg goes in...yes u can get all technicle and say "the place u screw in the reg IS a ASA screw in cuz ur tank will fit there" but its NOT meant for you to screw your tank into it....and if u wanna screw your tank into where the reg screws into lol be my guest and do it.

when firing people rest the tank on some part of thier body...usually on or around the shoulder....if u put a 15* ASA on there...the tank will angle down. If you put the tank then on your shoulder...the tank will be angling UP puting the gun higher...which is what u dont want...u wanna keep the gun low and tucked away as possible.

I gave this some more thougth. I think as long as the gun is level and the holes are plumb the eyes should be easy to install. ( drill press and some clamps would do the trick. The part that would give me concern would be the inside of the body. As you drill the holes it will be very hard not to leave a bur on hte inside of the body. It would also be very diffacult to file that bur down. If there was a bur on the inside of the breach it could tear balls open they went past it. The thought I had to clean those up would be to take a wire brush wheel (like for a dremmel) and cut the tooling end down to fit verticly in your breach. then you could feed it in the breach and out the hole for the eye leaving the wire wheel inside. A few quick spins should smooth it out.

Also some people call "angled verticle adapters" 15* ASA's. I think that is what lbreevesii and dayofthegreek are refering too.

I don't think I would try that free hand. the drill would tend to wobble on you and you may not get as precice a hole as desired. It may be worth a call to a couple of machine shops to see if they could do it also. Without the proper tools it would be much more diffacult. I do like the race frames alot. If I was bying a frame thats the one I would choose. although the e2 should have breakbeam also.
