Was the paint CHOPPING, or was it breaking in the barrel?

Most likely just too small bore a barrel for the paint.

Ever used this barrel before? Could also have burrs on it, not unheard of.

alright just to clear everything up, is there any chopped paint, on the bolt, or in the chamber of the gun. If its chopping in the barrel its either really small paint for the barrel or the paint is 2large for the barrel.

Put a ball in the barrel. then try and blow it thru, if it just falls thru its 2 small, if u turn blue in the face tryin to get it out then teh apint is 2 big. I cant really help in the electro part though ask some1 else for that.

eye reading 140 is good. check the bolt tho. turn the frame on and "show" on the eye settings. look for the bolt to be set around 10 - 20.

FYI for those that don't know how the eye works. It is bounce beam of coarse and 0 is all light is being reflected back, 255 is no light is being reflected back. the default setting on the eye is 128 and you can adjust its starting point up or down. so with the bolt open you want the eye to be less than 255, around 220 - 240 is fine. and bolt closed around 10 - 20. paint 40 - 60 would be optimal.

well here is the funny thing. the symptoms you are describing would be consistent w/ a bad eye. Are you sure you don't have it backwards? are you sure that you are indead having these problems when the eye is OFF not on?
power up the frame and then hold top button until Eye Off apears.

I know it sounds simple but it doesn't make sense that it would work w/ eye on and not w/ eye off.

Also I am not familiar w/ those setting you have listed at all. when trouble shooting the frame you are alway going to want to set it to FF (Factory Fast)
open grip, power on, push and hold button in frame for a few seconds until TIMG apears then set to F Fast.

I asume you know how to do that if you are putting in custom settings. Also you never stated that you are using a fresh battery. That will also cause strange things happening when it gets blow a certain voltage.

Set to FF and change the batt, then if still having trouble, unplug the eye. tell me what happens after that.
