Pre-1990 - 1994: V6, 140hp / 185 ft-lbs torque
1995: |4, 150hp / 152 ft-lbs torque
1996: |4, 150hp / 150 ft-lbs torque
1997 - 2002: |4, 150hp / 155 ft-lbs torque

That having been said, DON'T get a cavalier. The interior falls apart like no other, the resale value is next to nothing, and the engine will be a pile of worthless metal in no time if you drive it even moderately hard.

Thats interesting, they rated the 3.1 for the Z24 the same as the 3.1 they used in the late 3rd gen f-bodies. I would also recommend not buying a cavalier, but I guess its better than nothing.

i've actually driven a cavalier, i DID beat the piss out of it, and it's still running beautifully at 150,000... little rust, and still good condition inside... biggest replacement has been a water pump...

me and my buddies have been it to minitrucks now for a while and one of them just put one in his nissan and that thing hauls ass so im thinking of putting one in my s-10

I think that is the most retarded thing I have ever heard anyone say.

Most people if they do a motor swap in an S-10 do something decent like a nicely built 350 or something along those lines. You wanna stick in a crappy 4 cylinder.
